Anesthesiologist Education Requirements
Any primary job in the medical field commands considerable respect, and the same can be said for anesthesiologists. It requires extensive education to become an anesthesiologist. Like all physicians, anesthesiologists need to be board certified. One has to study 4 years in medical school and then do a 3-year internship, followed by a one-year residency to become an anesthesiologist. For specialization, another year of fellowship required to be done. However, the basic educational qualification to become an anesthesiologist is not similar in all the states and differs from one state to another. As part of anesthesiology, students may also study critical care medicine, cardiology, surgery and pharmacology.
