Are Oranges Dyed?
Sometimes oranges are dyed. Cool temperatures is what makes oranges go from green to orange so if the weather doesn’t get cool while the oranges are on the tree, then the orange will not get the vibrant color we see in the grocery store. There are different ways to dye the oranges but most are treated with a substance known as ethylene, which promotes the vibrant orange color. Many oranges that we see in the grocery store have been dyed. Not all of them, but quite a few.
