Case Manager Job Description

Do you enjoy helping people? If so, work as a case manager might be just the thing for you. Case managers attend to the details of particular clients, making sure they get what they need. There are several kinds of case managers. A medical case manager ensures that the client receives proper medical treatment, as well as works with them toward understanding their illness and its treatment. Insurance case managers work with people filing insurance claims, usually over accidents. Children’s Services case managers help orphaned and abandoned children find good homes and get on with their lives. There is a lot of compassion and empathy involved with a case manager’s profession. You need to have a big heart and you need to really care about the people whose files you are managing. The educational requirements for a career in case management are relatively low. In most cases you will need a bachelors degree in the field of case management that you are entering. Medical case managers need a degree in medicine or biology, for example. In addition, case managers generally receive on-the-job training or special training courses to provide them with the skills they need to perform their duties.
