Football Referee Salary 2011
To become a football referee, one needs to stay fit and, more importantly, have a mastery of the game's rules. They should be able to move around, some times as quick as the players, to watch the game from close quarters. A football referee is expected to be conversant with the rules and regulations of the game, as stipulated by the American football rules. After enrolling as a member with the state or national refereeing association, aspiring candidates can work for some years as a lower rank NFL official from where they get elevated to the NFL subsidiary league and then, NFL referee. Since NFL season is conducted only between September and December, referees always accept other assignments during off-season to make an additional income. The average football referee salary in 2011 is $30,000 to $70,000.
