How Much Does An Editorial Assistant Make Per Year? Average Editorial Assistant Salary
Editorial assistants work under Editors or Editor-in-Chief in newspapers and magazines. Their main duty is to find out spelling and grammar errors in news articles before they are finally sent for publication. They also compile news reports, edit reporter’s copies, engage in proofreading and rewrite press releases. Editorial assistants also attend daily and weekend meetings convened by the editorial chief, where they can express any shortcomings noticed in the work flow. An editorial assistant is expected to adopt himself to a fast paced work environment by remaining self-motivated. They may have to work till late night, particularly in newspapers. On average, an editorial assistant makes $30,000 yearly.
