They contribute a portion of their salaries to the Episcopal fund that is used for several purposes, including ministries of the church. The traditional role of a bishop is as pastor of a diocese. In Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, Lutheranism and Anglicanism, only a bishop can ordain other bishops, priests and deacons.
