How Much Does a Bishop Make Per Year? Average Bishop Salary

Salaries of bishops vary depending on their actual positions. There are jurisdictional, prelate and church bishops, each varying depending on ministry size. The average annual salary of a catholic bishop is in the range of $16,500 to $19,000, depending on which diocese and state one lives in. Their salaries make as same as a Parish priest. Episcopal or Anglican bishops earn as high as $150,000 to $200,000 per year, depending on location and mandates of the Episcopal diocese. They contribute a portion of their salaries to the Episcopal fund that is used for several purposes, including ministries of the church. The traditional role of a bishop is as pastor of a diocese. In Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, Lutheranism and Anglicanism, only a bishop can ordain other bishops, priests and deacons.
