Working as a Garda requires that the member possesses a diploma, or a degree, obtained from an acknowledged Third Level Institution. One needs to pay three extra increments after the primary 58 weeks training program is completed. One such extra increment requires the Garda member to pay respect to members that attain a Grade ‘V’, or two Grade ‘C’, in three different subjects. These subjects include English, Irish and Math.
