Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity that promotes animal welfare. It is the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the world. The most common work in the RSPCA is that of an Inspector. There are five regions earmarked for RSPCA containing 6 groups of inspectorate staff. A group is headed by Chief Inspector, who in turn is responsible for 8 inspectors. The charity’s work has inspired setting up of such similar bodies in other nations. In the US, it is the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. An RSPCA inspector earns 23,000 sterling pounds per annum in the UK.
