How To Become a Podiatrist: Education Requirements
Podiatrists must possess a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from a college of podiatric medicine. It is a 4-year program which leads to a DPM. Each state has its own licensing requirement and in most cases, an applicant must be a graduate of an accredited college of podiatric medicine. He or she should also necessarily pass written and oral examinations. Podiatric specialization is a medical care of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. Admission to a college of podiatric medicine is possible only on completion of at least 90 semester hours of undergraduate study
