How To Become a Veterinarian: Education Requirements
The Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association has accredited 28 veterinary schools in 26 states in the US. Undertaking a pre-veterinary course is a pre-requisite, though veterinary education requirements do not specify that an individual have a bachelor’s degree before entering the doctorate program. On completion of the pre-requisite course, a student should also sit for an admission test. Scores may be requested for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Medical College Administration Test (MCAT) or the Veterinary College Admission Test (VCAT). During the 4-year course, the students also get to study subjects such as animal anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
