Mailroom Clerk Job Description
If you enjoy sorting and packaging things, then you might be interested in a career as a mailroom clerk. The daily tasks for someone in this profession include sorting incoming mail for distribution via carrier, organization of outgoing mail, packaging of mass-distributed mail (i.e. newsletters), and sorting interoffice mail. Mailroom clerks may also be assigned other tasks such as ordering and organizing office supplies for use throughout the post office. Some mailroom clerks also deliver mail door to door, or transport outgoing mail. In general, being a mailroom clerk is a pleasant and simple job. The education requirements for such a position are minimal, requiring only a high school diploma in most cases. Skills at organization and management can lead to quick promotions.
