Professional Dancer Salary 2011
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for professional dancers are expected to grow at a rate of 7% during the next several years. A professional dancer’s salary in 2011 is $40,000. The income usually increases with experience and the type of dance such as jazz, ballroom, ballet, folk and modern dance. Recreation industries, amusement parks, professional schools, colleges and universities are where professional dancers are largely employed. They also perform in television, movies and music videos. New York, Nevada, Utah and New Jersey pay higher salaries for professional dancers, who may also work as choreographers, coaches or artistic directors.
