Radiologist Education Requirements
Becoming a radiologist holds many similarities to the education requirements of other medical professions. The entire process, classes and rotations, is the same for all medical students till the fourth year in a medical school. From there on, elective rotations can be availed and a student needs to apply to Radiology residency program. Then he or she will complete a radiology residency in a period of 4 to 5 years. Like doctors, radiologists also need to graduate from an accredited medical school, pass a licensing exam, become an intern and complete a 4-year residency in radiology. Specialization can be done in areas such as chest radiology, emergency radiology, breast imaging, radiation oncology and gastrointestinal radiology.
