What does Carat Mean? Karat Jewelry Term
A carat is an amount of weight equivalent to 200 milligrams. The carat is primarily used as a unit of measurement for precious stones, pearls, and gold. While the carat could be used for measuring other items, is primarily used for these gemstones. A flawless diamonds weighing more than 100 carats is considered to be a paragon in quality.
