Baking power is used in food as a raising agent and to enhance the texture of the baked items. It is a substitute of yeast and performs the same function. If you do not have baking soda then you can use baking powder because it is the main constituent of the baking soda. Thus baking powder can be used to cure heartburns and indigestion.
