Dijon mustard as a specific type of mustard that originated in the French city of Dijon. Dijon mustard does not necessarily come from the city of Dijon however. Dijon mustard usually contains a certain quantity of white wine or burgundy wine as well as the juice from unripe grapes to give it its distinctive, pungent flavor. Dijon mustard sees a wide variety of uses, but is most commonly used in sandwiches as a flavoring and mixed into salad dressings or other sauces. Dijon mustard is available in many grocery stores and food outlets throughout the world.
