Jackfruit is the fruit of the ‘Jackfruit’ tree which belongs to Mulberry family. It is native to Southeast India, Bangladesh and Srilanka. It is mainly cultivated in tropical regions. It is the largest tree borne fruit in the world. The fruit has a minimum diameter of 25 cm and weighs 36kgs. Even the seeds have a very high nutritional value. Nutritional components of the fruit are carbohydrates, proteins, sodium, vitamin A, B and C, calcium, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and copper. It is very low in fats.
