What is Sesame Oil? Ingredients and Uses
Sesame oil is a popular oil first developed in Asia. It is created by pressing roasted sesame seeds to release their rich oil. Sesame oil has a very distinctive flavor they can be noticeably modified by using different varieties of sesame seeds as well as roasting to different degrees. Sesame oil has a variety of uses but is most commonly employed by Oriental cuisines to add flavor to dishes. For example, Chinese soups often have a few drops of sesame oil floated on their surface to intensify their aroma and flavor.
