What is an Incubus? The Nightmare Demon

With numerous mentions of Incubi in culture and literature, you may wonder what they are. An incubus is a male demon who lies upon sleeping women in order to rape them. Like the succubus, its female counterpart, the incubus feeds upon the life force of its victims to sustain itself. Incubus is Latin for “nightmare” and it is said that incubi are the cause of all nightmares.
