A major remodel could cost upwards of $50,000. On average, 60% of the cost is for the cupboards and benchtops, 20% goes on appliances and the other 20% is for labour. The cost can be reduced by looking for appliances in a discount store and using less expensive materials for the cabinet doors and benchtops. Doing some of the unskilled labour such as taking out the old cupboards and disposing of them can save $500 or more.
