Ethiopia, and its capital Addis Ababa, has a cost of living index which rates it 258th out of the 300 most expensive places in the world for expatriates to live. Costs for housing, utilities, transport,
rates and taxes are all relatively inexpensive compared with the other locations. Food items and entertainment costs are also comparatively cheap but communication costs such as telephone, internet connection and cell phone plans and contracts are fairly expensive compared to the other locations.
