What is the differrence between a Fal'Cie and a l'Cie in Final Fantasy XIII

In Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII, the Fal'Cie and l'Cie are two differrent, but related things. The Fal'Cie are powerful magical beings, which occupy a god-like kind of status in the society of the planet Gran Pulse and the orbiting moon, Cocoon. Fal'Cie are the source of all magic, and also appear to produce all of the food and energy (at least in the paradise of Cocoon). l'Cie are normal people who have been bound to perform a task, called a focus, for the Fal'Cie. They are not told directly what that task is, but must perform it within a relatively short time or they will be turned into a zombie. Normal humans do not have magical abilities, however, l'Cie take on magical abilities after becoming branded by the Fal'Cie.
