One of the cheapest methods for shipping packages in a typical size/weight range is via ground shipping through a commercial carrier. For letters or envelopes, by far the cheapest method is the USPS. For other packages, such as very large items, or hazardous items, it may be cheapest to contract through a freight shipping company.
