MLB Umpire Job Description
Being a Major League Baseball umpire might seem like a dream job to baseball fans, but this job is more than just making judgment calls. A MLB umpire must know the game inside and out, and be ready to make calls that might seem too close to call for others. Umpires are also responsible for disciplining players if they break the rules or if their behavior is unacceptable on the field. Umpires should expect a fair amount of traveling during the season. MLB umpires make roughly $120,000 on average a year.
