What is the Average Cost of a Colposcopy? Average Colposcopy Price
Colposcopy is a procedure by which the cervix and vagina of a woman are observed to spot any abnormal changes in the cells. Other problems like warts on the cervix, inflammation of the cervix area, non-cancerous growths or bleeding may also be assessed by colposcopy. A naked eye view is enlarged multiple times by the colposcope and this helps in spotting problems which may not be otherwise detectable. After the test, the patient can go about their normal life, though a little spotting or soreness of the vaginal area may be felt for a few days. This examination can sometimes help identify changes that could possibly lead to cancer.
By having the cells sent to the lab for biopsy, you can rule out the danger of cancer. Generally, this test costs an average of $1000 if you are not covered or helped by health insurance. If insurance comes into the picture, then it will generally cost an average of about $400.
