What is the Average Cost of a Ruby? Average Ruby Price
Synthetic rubies that are manufactured artificially are generally the cheaper varieties that are available in the market. The cost of these stones depend on the size, color and the cut. They are measured in carats and the normal commercial grade ruby costs an average of $300 per carat. But as the color and the clarity of the stone becomes brighter and if the stone is heat-treated, the price could soar dramatically to a few thousand dolars per carat, at an average. High quality rubies are mined from Burma, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Madagascar. They are also mined in Africa, Australia, Greenland and in the US states of Montana, North and South Carolina. These stones are very hard and only diamonds are harder.
